The Chattanooga Firefighters Association is the labor organization for the Chattanooga Fire Department in Chattanooga, TN. We represent over 200 members of the department. We also represent members of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Fire Department. The Local was chartered on February 5, 1945, having originally being chartered in 1918.
Our Fire Fighter’s serve the citzens of Chattanooga with a wide range of services, including but not limited to structual firefighting, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, fire prevention education, inspections and investigation.
The Chattanooga Fire Fighters Association is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association. The IAFF is the driving force behind nearly every advance in the fire and emergency services in the 20th century from the introduction of shift schedules early in the last century to the enactment of SAFER in 2003. The IAFF has established professional standards for the North American fire service with extremely active political and legislative programs, and with recognized experts in the fields of occupational health and safety, fire based emergency medical services and hazardous materials training.
All members and their families are aware of the danger that is associated with our profession as Professional Fire Fighters. We accept this responsibility and thank the citizens and guests of the City of Chattanooga for the opportunity to serve them.
